Fire Department Staffing
The Fire Department is staffed by one full-time Fire Chief and dedicated volunteers committed to providing the highest quality fire services to everyone in our community.
The Bridgeport Fire Department's mission is to protect our community's lives, property, and environment with extraordinary care and service.
"In Service of Others"
Pride, Honor, Compassion
The Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of 3 divisions:
- Fire Suppression
- Fire Prevention
- Emergency Management
Fire Suppression is the Fire Department's priority. In that capacity, our volunteers respond to life and property-threatening incidents such as:
- Car wrecks
- Medical emergencies
- Other emergent conditions
The department also conducts post-incident investigations to determine the cause and origin of the incident.
The department is responsible for fire prevention activities. In addition, throughout each school year, the firefighters offer educational programs to the Bridgeport Independent School District children and other organizations that request them.
Currently, the department's goals are to develop, draft, and implement emergency response, disaster preparation, and other large-scale emergency plans for the City of Bridgeport. Additionally, the city has implemented an emergency notification system called Civic Ready, which helps us contact our citizens in case of an emergency, such as a water leak or inclement weather. Visit Civic Ready to enter your telephone contact information into our database.
