Community Service Programs

Are You Okay? Program

A special needs registry to help elderly, disabled, or special needs citizens of Bridgeport.  This free service provides daily contact by Police Department personnel to monitor the welfare of citizens whose movement is impaired.  

 

Neighborhood Watch Program

Police Department personnel host meetings with local groups wishing to establish Neighborhood Watch Programs.  Citizens have the opportunity to meet their police officers and staff and get tips on crime awareness and safety.  

 

Drug Awareness Program

Educational Program developed by Sgt. Randy Eyster for school-aged children to educate them to the dangers and hazards of drug use.

 

Adopt-A-School Program

Each officer is assigned a campus for which they provide special programs and mentoring to students.  Collectively, officers spend 40 hours per month interacting with students.

 

Security Watch Program

A program for citizens with special security needs, such as those victimized by crime or needing extra patrol during absences from their homes or businesses.  A request for additional security provides more frequent daily/nightly checks by Officers.

  

Annual Participation Flag football tournament


Annual Spirit of Christmas Flag Football Tournament

Bridgeport Police Department hosts the annual Flag Football Tournament for law enforcement and civilian teams.  Proceeds are donated to the Bridgeport/Decatur Branch of the Spirit of Christmas Organization.  Over the past 4 years, BPD has raised $12,000. 

 

Bridgeport Police/Volunteer Fire Department Halloween Safety Booth

Police and Volunteer Fire Departments provide treats, games, public information, and educational materials at the annual Halloween Booth.
